JB Tools Employee Spotlight: Jessica Wilhoite
28th Aug 2023
We’re so proud of our employees that we want to show them off to the world! The JB Tools Blog is the best place to do that.
There are no unsung heroes here. The heroes at JB Tools bring their A-game every day, week, month, and year. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, the company continues to thrive. The owners show their appreciation for employee dedication in many ways, and this monthly feature is one of them.
So, without any further ado, we introduce the subject of this month’s Employee Spotlight:
Everyone at JB Tools knows Jessica. That’s because she works in nearly every department in the building. One day, you might see her at her desk in the front office. Another day, she’s at her satellite desk in the warehouse. Other times, she’s working alongside another JB Tools employee at their desk. No matter where you find her, Jessica is always happy to ask you how you’re doing. Those who know her better say Jessica shows a genuine interest in their lives. Add to that her vibrant personality, and it’s easy to see why Jessica is so popular here.
We could go on and on about Jessica, but it’s better to hear her tell her own story.
Q: What would you say is the most interesting and unique fact about yourself?
Jessica Wilhoite: “I was born in South Korea and was adopted at three months old. I grew up here in Livonia, Michigan!”
Q: Where did you work prior to joining the JB Tools team?
JW: “I worked as a nursing assistant at Oakwood Rehabilitation Center for more than five years. I then started working as a medical biller and coder. Once I started a family, I was a stay-at-home mom for six years.”
Q: Do you use the skills and experience you acquired at other jobs here at JB Tools? If so, how?
JW: “Yes. I value collaborative teamwork, but I also execute tasks on my own. I also enjoy that I get to work with different people from different parts of the company along with vendors and customers. I am definitely a people person!”
Q: What do you like most about your job?
JW: “I get to work with a lot of great people who turned into some of my greatest friends. I also like that I work in different departments of the company, which helps me understand various aspects of the business.”
Q: Would you like to share anything about your home life? Family? Pets? Etc.
JW: “I have two beautiful children who are eight and six years old. We also have a dog named Luna and a cat named Dakota.”
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
JW: “I danced for 12 years, did pom in high school, and was on an all-star team in college. That transitioned into coaching high school dance and pom teams for six years. I was very hands-on when it came to cutting my own music, teaching my choreography, and coming up with fresh new formations for competitions. It was nice to share that passion with them. Watching the girls grow as athletes and as young women was very rewarding. It's also great when your vision comes to life, and seeing students master new skills. I’m still in contact with a lot of the girls I coached and their families. It was a very rewarding part of my life.
"Today, I love spending time with my kids. I am a dance, gymnastics, and soccer mom. My kids keep me busy, but I love every minute of it! I also play in multiple dart leagues and travel across Michigan to different tournaments."
Q: Where is the most exotic or interesting place you’ve visited?
JW: “Since I am a huge scary/horror fan, New Orleans was really fun and interesting. I took a haunted tour around the French Quarter and even had dinner at Muriel’s (a haunted restaurant). The architecture, food (I still think of the beignets) and live jazz on Frenchman Street made New Orleans a trip to remember.”
