Pet Project: Penelope the Shorkie

Pet Project: Penelope the Shorkie

22nd Aug 2023

A JB Tools employee wants to tell you all about her beloved fur baby!

Our employees are people, too, and they love their dogs, cats, and other animals! These pets are as much a part of their families as their significant others and children. We’ve created this semi-regular feature to give these critters a chance to shine. It seems only right considering all the joy they bring to their owners.

This month, the mother of one of JB Tools’ founders brings us this Pet Project feature.

How Penelope became a part of my life:

“Penelope is my son, Bob’s dog, which makes her my grandpup. I used to take her only on weekends because I had a fenced-in yard and she could run freely. A new dog came into her home, much bigger and playful. Penelope was 11 years old by then, and just didn't like being bothered by the big puppy and was jealous and acting out. So she came to live with Grandma and Grandpa so everyone could be happy!”

This is what I love most about Penelope:

“How kind and gentle she is. If she knows you are hurting or need some snuggles, she is right there for you. She makes you relax!”

Penelope’s special tricks and talents are:

“When she was a puppy, you could teach her a trick in literally less than an hour! She also is our alarm clock. She pesters us when it is time to go up to bed, and she makes sure we don't sleep through our alarm in the morning!”

Penelope’s favorite things to do are:

“She loves to walk, even though her arthritis limits her distance. She is happiest when someone is giving her belly rubs.”

Penelope has such a unique personality:

“She is JB Tools’ mascot. She comes to work with me daily and is very glad when we walk into someone's office. (She makes sure she cleans up all the crumbs!) At work, she has no problem walking around. Once we get home, she acts like her legs won't hold her anymore. This is just so Grandpa can carry her around and coddle her. But if he doesn't, she gives him a good holler. Her bark sounds like she is yelling at him.”

Thanks for Sharing, Rose!

We all know how adorable Penelope is because we see her here at work. Now, everyone who reads The JB Tools Blog knows too!
